Drim Projects Outline

Drim (Dramatic Improvement) Projects comprises the following overlapping and interconnected stages.

  1. JumpStart! A small footprint, high-impact intervention focused at current workload and challenges. JumpStart!s create capacity, appetite and aptitude for dramatic improvement - as well as immediate results. [click here] for details.
  2. Standard Solutions. The adaptation and implementation of mature, proven standard systemic solutions to common challenges. Standard Solutions follow on naturally from the JumpStart micro-solutions and don't need a lot of testing and prototyping. [click here] for details.
  3. Custom Solution. The development, prototyping and implementation of a specific systemic solution for your organisation's and your industry's systemic problem. Prodsol begins development on Day 1, but they are often not fully tested and ready to be implemented until Month 3.
  4. Cultural Transformation. Once the systemic solution is in place, the executive team switches its focus to accelerating and embedding the cultural transformation that has been gathering momentum from the start of the intervention. The purpose of the Cultural Transformation Phase is to equip and shape the organisation for ongoing advancement and improvement. Outstanding capability is transferred to the executive team and disseminated throughout the organisation in this phase.

This basic framework is followed whether the intervention is run:

  1. Within a functional area (like Sales, Operations, Production, Projects or Distribution)
  2. Cross-functionally (like increasing end-to-end throughput, reducing lead-time or increasing market share) or
  3. Organisation-wide.

This is because functional area interventions invariably extend cross-functionally and end up touching the entire organisation and the best way to get organisation-wide interventions started is by starting small - where the systemic problem is best solved - and expanding outwards over time.

The only real difference is who the starting sponsor is - which dictates who comprises the initial Drim (Dramatic Improvement) Team.

Prodsol's role

Our role is to work with you and your team to deliberately and systematically make dramatic improvement inevitable. We will lead you through the initial steps, but hand over leadership to you and your team within the first month of the intervention. Early handover is crucial to the success of the intervention. From then on, our role is to provide specific executive and other support services during the course of the project, including, but not limited to:

  1. Implementation management support.
  2. New (custom) solution development.
  3. Participating in solution development, application and refinement sessions.
  4. Participating in progress reviews .
  5. Roadblock removal services.
  6. Coaching and Mentoring services.
  7. Training in drim methods, techniques and solutions.

Drim Projects are run slightly differently, if delivered remotely.
