Drîm is short for Dramatic Improvement. It's pronounced "Dream".

Drîm Solution Patterns

The Drîm Solution Patterns

A growing arrow from bottom-left of a square to top-right beyound the square, with idea bulbs.

Drîm Solutions secure dramatic improvement in performance and fulfilment for all concerned.

The Drîm Solution Patterns

Drîm Solutions enable us to deal with dynamic complexity and multi-dimensionality. They:

  1. Are simple and (of necessity) counter-intuitive.
  2. Take advantage of (rather than fighting) the forces that constrain the situation or system.
  3. Repeat throughout the situation or system.

The flashcards on this page cover the five primary perspectives: add additional ones if youhave them.

The solution section of the site provides a growing number of examples for a growing number of them.

The Drîm Dimension Solution Patterns

The Drîm Dimensions Pictogram

The six primary drîm facets of any situation or thing: cover whichever of these are relevant and drîm is assured.

The Drîm Dimension Solution Patterns

The Flow Drîm Dimension PictogramFlow: The speed and rate that stuff is produced.

The Ingenuity Drîm Dimension PictogramIngenuity: Simple counter-intuitive solutions.

The Change Drîm Dimension PictogramChange: Transitioning from old to new.

The Mastery Drîm Dimension PictogramMastery: Knowledge, expertise & experience.

The Synergy Drîm Dimension PictogramSynergy: 2 + 2 = 5: things and people.

The Understanding Drîm Dimension PictogramUnderstanding: The alignment of perception with reality.

The Drîm Arena Solution Patterns

A growing arrow from bottom-left of a square to top-right beyound the square, with the primary arena icons surrounding the head of the arrow.

Drîm Solutions secure dramatic improvement in performance and fulfilment for all concerned.

The Drîm Arena Solution Patterns

These drîm arena solution patterns apply a combination of the drîm dimensions solution patterns.

  1. The Personal Drîm Solution Arena.
  2. Organisational Drîm Solution Arena.
  3. Community Drîm Solutions.
  4. National Drîm Solutions.
  5. Civilisation Drîm Solutions.

Each of these arenas has many sub-arenas - many of which are shared with other arenas and have their own sub-arenas.

Common General Solution Patterns

Generic patterns that apply across all dimensions, arenas and domains.

Common General Solution Patterns

The Universal Patterns apply across all domains, dimensions and arenas. They include:

  1. The Goal|Problem|Solution Pattern
  2. The Reverse-Engineering Pattern.
  3. The Pull (instead of Push) Pattern.
  4. The Batch-Size Pattern
  5. The Indirect Pattern.
  6. The Alternative Generation and Integration Pattern
  7. The Horses-For-Courses Pattern.

The Primary Lever Solution Patterns

Familiarity with the most common forms of leverage makes it way easier to spot opportunities that you might otherwise miss.

The Primary Lever Solution Patterns

Indirect, rather than direct intervention:

  1. Cause>Effect: Addressing effects via causes.
  2. Wedges: Using, directing and magnifying existing weight and force and inertia.
  3. Whips: Converting between momentum and speed.
  4. Bottlenecks: Relieving end-to-end flow-constraints.
  5. Reinforcing Cycles: Converting Vicious Cycles into Virtuous ones.
  6. Conflict/Dilemma Resolution: Resolving conflict with breakthrough rather than compromise.

The Primary Domain Solution Patterns

Three small irregularly shaped areas within a larger area, each containing a drîm symbol (Arrow growing from the bottom-left to beyond the top right of a square)

Drîm domains are specific fields or areas of interest or specialisation - a subset of patterns.

The Primary Domain Solution Patterns

There are too many and varied drîm domains to do justice to here, so here are the most common and pertinent:

  1. The People Domain
    1. Domain Key: Cognitive Science.
    2. Domain Pattern: The Golden Assumption
  2. The Things Domain
    1. Domain Key: System Science
    2. Domain Pattern: Indirect Intervention
